Do It Yourself Steps
1. Color Paper with Crayons
Use your crayons to fill up your heavy paper with lots of different colors and shapes until you can no longer see the white of your paper. Make sure you press really hard with your crayons to get as much wax on your paper (you should be able to scratch some off with your nails). Do not let any white parts of the paper show.
3. Add Dish Soap to Paint
Add a couple of drops of dish soap to your paint. (You can add about 1 drop of dish soap for every teaspoon of paint).
5. Cover Paper with Paint
Use your large brush to cover your entire paper with your black paint and soap mixture. Apply a nice and thick layer until you can no longer see any of your crayon colors. You might have to apply 2 coats of paint for this.
7. Scratch into Paper
Now for the fun part! Once your work is completely dry take your wooden stylus or toothpick and start scratching patterns and pictures into your paper. You can scratch out thinner lines, thicker lines or complete sections of paint to create a beautiful and colorful masterpiece! Try experimenting with different colored crayons and patterns to create some interesting effects. For example try using only cool colors (blues, greens and purples) or warm colors (yellows, oranges and reds) to create an artwork with different moods.
